How Long To Deep Fry Pork Chops?

breaded fried chicken and fried potatoes

Fried chicken and pork chops are some of the most popular foods today.  You can find these staple dishes from fast food chains to large restaurants.  Better yet, a dish like pork chops is actually a quick food to prepare.  If you cut or slice the pork chop in thin size pieces the preparation time actually decreases.  Do you know how much time it takes or how long it takes to deep fry pork chops?  The answer could surprise you.

Luckily you don’t have to master major culinary skills to cook a pork chop to perfection with the right taste and texture.  As mentioned earlier, the major benefit of cooking pork chops is just how quickly they can cook.

Of course we are referring to frying pork chops when talking about cook time which is just a few minutes.

Other recipes of pork such as crispy pork belly and other dishes or soups would take longer. That is because a deep fried crispy, whole pork belly is really thick and cooking it takes longer for the heat to reach the inner layer of the pork. Trying to increase the heat or temperature of your deep fryer would leave you an overcooked external layer of pork and raw meat inside.

If you're tired of constantly buying more and more oil, we found a really good option.  This deep fryer has an oil filtration system (check prices on Amazon) so you can reuse oil more than once so you can save oil $$.

The Cooking Secret for How Long It Takes to Fry Pork Chops

This means the secret of how fast and easy it is to cook a pork chop with just simple frying techniques is really about how you slice the pork chops. The style of the cut really tells it all. The thin slices of pork chop are cooked evenly on all sides and it takes only about a few degrees of heat and a few minutes in order for the heated oil to reach the inner layer of the pork and deliciously cook it before overcooking the outer layer.

Types of Frying Pork Chops

There are actually 2 ways to fry a pork chop. It can either be done pan-fried or deep-fried, both of which differ slightly in their outcome. However, if you have thin slices of pork chops, it won’t affect the meat much as the slices will be soaked in hot oil regardless of the type of equipment used.

Pan Frying

This method of frying pork chops is pretty basic and doesn’t really require large kitchen equipment such as deep fryers. A simple pan (check prices on Amazon) with enough space for the wide cut pork chop and slightly deep, just enough to allow you to dip the thin slices of pork chops with oil will work perfectly.

This is also a simple method to fry a pork chop and it really is a good way for you to create that crispy and succulent texture of a pork chop. How Long To Deep Fry Pork Chops?

how long to deep fry pork chops

That normally depends on the method you’re using and how thick the slices of the pork chops you have are. A regular thickness of pork chops usually takes about 8 to 10 minutes to deep fry. The lesser the thickness of the slices means the faster it is for the pork chop to be cooked.

The ingredients you add to your pork chops also add to the time it will take for the pork chop to cook. A good example of this would be that a breaded pork chop will take slightly longer to cook compared to a seasoned pork chop with only salt and pepper.

The heat from medium to high also affects the cooking time. Medium will take longer for the pork chops to cook but it would be safer for the pork compared to using high settings all the time. If you use less oil and have very thin slices of pork chops, high heat could leave you with an overcooked outer layer and a raw inner layer.

Extra Pork Chop Frying Tips

If you are looking for a healthier alternative that doesn't quite require all this oil, you can also use an air fryer.  Your air fryer (check prices on Amazon) will give you that same crisp taste without the heaviness of the oil.
