You certainly can broil pork chops. In fact, it’s one of the healthiest ways to make them, as it keeps the meat succulent. It’s recommended to actually cook them in the oven first, then switch it to broil about ¾ of the way through to get that perfect crust.

What temperature/time setting do I use?

As far as the temperature and time settings, it may vary by oven, as well as by the thickness of your cut of meat. If you need a frame of reference, the standard setting is usually: 500° F. If you begin by cooking them in the oven first, you’ll want to set your oven at 375° F.  For every ounce of meat you have, add 10 minutes to the cook time. 

How-to broil pork chops in a convection oven?

The tricky thing with convection ovens is that there’s a different amount of time for the thickness of meat. The USDA recommends an estimated cooking time of 8-9 minutes, or 12-16 minutes for ¾ inch and 1.5 inches, respectively.

How-to broil them in a toaster oven? And for how long?

Yes, if you don’t have a regular or convection oven in your kitchen, you can use a toaster oven in a pinch. You will want to broil the pork chops for about 12 minutes on the first side, then 6 minutes on the other side. If you’re using a toaster oven, the temperature is usually 375°.

What about bone-in? How long would broiling those take?

Start with 4 minutes on the standard oven temperature of 375° F; then be sure to check it with a meat thermometer. 145° F internal temperature is a good frame of reference; and look to see if the pork chop has begun to brown. You’ll want to flip the pork chops over and continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes.

Can you broil pork chops from frozen?

For pork chops that are frozen, you will want to broil them at 350-400°F, for about 30-40 minutes. You’ll want to make sure to season the pork chops before you put them into the oven.

Easy and Quick Broiled Pork Chops Recipe

1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon thyme leaves
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
Raw pork chops (as many as you want)

Prepare seasoning in a dish mixing all ingredients together.
Sprinkle the seasoning mixture on to your raw park chops on both sides
Place pork chops in a glass baking dish
Place in oven and broil on medium to medium-high heat for 6 – 8 minutes per side if it’s thin
For thicker pork chops, broil from 8 – 10 minutes on each side
