Apple fritter rings


  • Apples – 4 medium-sized
  • flour – 2 cups (all-purpose)
  • sugar – 2 tablespoon + ½ cup  
  • Eggs – 2
  • Buttermilk – 2 cups
  • Oil to deep fry
  • vegetable oil – 4tsp
  • Powdered cinnamon – ¾ teaspoon
  • baking powder – 2 teaspoon
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon


Step 1- Mix ½ cup sugar and the powdered cinnamon and set aside. In a separate bowl whisk the eggs along with the buttermilk and 4 teaspoons of oil. Continue whisking while you add salt, flour, baking powder, and sugar, gradually. Also, slice the apples and keep then ready.

Step 2 – To get the deep fryer ready, heat 2 cups of oil to 375 degrees F. When the oil starts to bubble, drop in a little sample of the batter to check if the oil is ready for frying. When the oil is ready, coat the apple slices with flour first, then coat them with the batter prepared earlier and deep fry. Step 1 – To make the syrup, in a pan mix water, lemon juice, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer on medium heat for ten minutes, till it is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Add the rose water and keep aside.

Step 2 – To prepare the batter recipe mix the flour, yeast, and salt. Add the warm water and continue stirring for 10 minutes. Use a plastic wrap to cover the mixture and allow it to rise for an hour. Once batter doubles, whisk it again and set aside for another ½ hour to rise.
